Office Redo

BEFORE:

When we first moved in to our house, we pretty much had a blank slate, except for a small bedroom that the previous owners were using as an office. While the space is still perfect for an office, the color choice was not doing anything to make the space feel inviting and spacious. 

Since our entire house is some shade of gray we choose a subtle gray with a hint of blue/green called Wickham Gray by Benjamin Moore which we are extremely happy with. 

The room is finally coming together. We already had the desk and chair from our apartment, but we recently added the lamp which Andy picked himself (with help) and put up these floating shelves.

Bedroom Wishlist

Our bedroom is almost complete! I'm excited to hopefully show pictures soon, we painted, put up curtains (which we are on my third set) and finally have our furniture fixed (the movers nicked it when we moved and needed to repair it.)  Slowly but surely it's coming together. There are a few items though that would make the room complete.

 We can't wait to remove the old ceiling fan, add artwork and this sunburst mirror, as well as additional furniture to provide seating. 

Something I found when putting this together was that the Target lamps are actually are touch lamps, perfect for next to the bed when you need light but can't find the on/off switch in the dark.

Flowers by Season

One thing to surely take away the winter blues is a fresh bouquet of flowers.  Living in Michigan the challenge is always finding what is in season. While we can always get a specific flower called in, it's not always as pretty as those who have more favorable weather year round. Here are some of my seasonal favorites, that I can always rely on to brighten a room. 

Warmth

The last month has been and I quote the weatherman the "worst winter in 20 years." I can't remember a winter as horrible as this one (possibly because I was 7 according to the weatherman) and what a prime time to move into our new house.  The freezing temperatures have definitely left us waking up in the middle night looking for more layers, and we are starting to find out which rooms get colder then others.

One room that does get a bit chilly, is our family room that has a natural fireplace. We haven't used it yet, because neither of us has experience using a natural fireplace, but we are looking to get a gas fireplace installed asap. Here are a few fireplaces I'm particularly fond of, and hope to get our drab current fireplace to look like here soon.
